Christopher Nathaniel, who has worked with footballers and rap artists, cleared along with seven others, but Nugent Rowe found guilty and will be sentenced today
A sports agent who worked with Rio Ferdinand and Jay Z has been cleared along with seven others of murdering a man in a revenge attack over a stolen BlackBerry.
Daniel O’Shea, 18, was stabbed in the neck near his mother’s home in Canning Town, east London, in December 2011 after being chased by a group over the theft of the device.
Christopher Nathaniel, along with Paul Boadi, David Hylton, Andrew Johnson, Paul Johnson, Ferron Perue, Kevin Richards and Scott Marius were cleared of murder and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm at the Old Bailey.
Nugent Rowe was found guilty will be sentenced later today. O’Neil Wareham was also cleared of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.
During the trial, it was heard that defendant Boadi had been attacked by up to seven men when his phone was stolen the week before O’Shea’s murder.
It was alleged he spoke to business partner Nathaniel, and organised to return to the area with eight other men to find those responsible. In his defence, Rowe said the intention was to give people “a punch and a slap”.
During the case, it was also heard that Nathaniel had helped Tony Blair launch an anti-knife campaign and set up The Rio Ferdinand Living the Dream Foundation with the Manchester United footballer.
He also reportedly organised a deal between Chelsea and England footballer Ashley Cole and rap artist Jay Z in 2011, which saw them meet in New York to plan the opening of a new restaurant in London.
